Elon Musk: Tesla aims to make Steam games working in vehicles
Playing large-scale games with an infotainment system may sound like a fantasy, but for Elon Musk, who has always been radical, it seems to be a normal thing. Asked whether the Cybertruck will be able to run Cyberpunk 2077, he answered "100%."
Elon Musk recently stated on Twitter that Tesla is currently working to bring games on Steam into vehicles, with the goal of making most games on Steam run in vehicles without the need for developers to port or modify them.
First of all, the reason why the Tesla infotainment system could support Steam games is that the new hardware based on AMD can increase speed by 3-4 times when performing regular tasks on the Tesla car. The operation speed is 10 TFLOPS, similar to PlayStation 5.
Secondly, Tesla's system is customized based on Linux and has high compatibility. From the perspective of software and hardware, it is not difficult to connect games on the Steam platform to Tesla's car system.
After the popularization of autopilot, the car will become the "third space". When people no longer need to focus on driving, the car will naturally become a free space. Once Steam games are really introduced, it may evolve into new paid subscription service.
